Install BlueMath
While the Office Store listing is under review, BlueMath installs with a small manifest file. It takes about a minute — the add-in itself always loads from our servers, so you get every update automatically.
Step 0 — download the manifest: Download bluemath-v2.xml
This small XML file only tells Word where BlueMath lives. Requires Word 2016 or later (Windows/Mac), or Word on the web.

Word on the web (fastest)
- Open any document at word.office.com (or office.com → Word).
- Go to Home → Add-ins → More Add-ins (older layout: Insert → Add-ins).
- Open the My Add-ins tab and click Upload My Add-in.
- Choose the downloaded
bluemath-v2.xmland click Upload. The BlueMath tab appears on the ribbon.
Note: on Word for the web the upload lasts for the current browser session — if the tab disappears after you close the browser, upload the same file again.
Word on Windows
Windows loads manifests from a shared folder catalog. One-time setup:
- Create a folder, e.g.
C:\BlueMath, and putbluemath-v2.xmlin it. - Share the folder with yourself: right-click the folder → Properties → Sharing → Share…, keep your own account, click Share. Note the network path it shows, e.g.
\\YOUR-PC\BlueMath. - In Word: File → Options → Trust Center → Trust Center Settings… → Trusted Add-in Catalogs. Paste the network path into Catalog Url, click Add catalog, tick Show in Menu, then OK and restart Word.
- Go to Home → Add-ins → More Add-ins (older versions: Insert → My Add-ins), open the Shared Folder tab, select BlueMath and click Add.
Word on Mac
- In Finder press ⌘⇧G (Go to Folder) and open
~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Word/Data/Documents/wef— create theweffolder if it does not exist. - Copy
bluemath-v2.xmlinto that folder and restart Word. - Go to Insert → Add-ins ▾ (or Home → Add-ins → More Add-ins → My Add-ins): BlueMath appears under Developer Add-ins. Click it once to add the ribbon tab.
After installing
- A BlueMath tab appears on the ribbon — click Open BlueMath to show the task pane, then sign in with your email (a one-time code, no password). See the documentation for a full tour.
- Updates are automatic — the manifest only points to our servers. You never need to re-download it unless we announce a manifest change.
- Uninstall: remove the add-in from the same My Add-ins dialog (Windows/ web) or delete the file from the
weffolder (Mac).
